Say Bye Bye to Paci!

Well tomorrow will mark ONE WEEK.....Emily is finally breaking away from paci....or should we say her parent's are finally breaking away from paci. All because David couldn't find it one night and then the next night she spent the night at her Nana's house, where she isn't allowed to have paci! I thought hey we have made it through two nights let's see how far we can go with this. She would ask for it a few times during the day, so then I made a deal with her if she went 5 days without paci I would buy her a toy....well she has gone 6 days and isn't begging for a toy. That is what is great about three year old....they don't really keep track of these things! A couple of days ago she spotted a paci that hadn't been well hidden. She pointed to it and said mommy, my blue paci.....I need it. I reminded her about her deal with me and the toy she could get. She looked at me and said, it's okay mom, I don't need my paci. She still asks about it everyday but she doesn't have to have it.....so it looks like at 3 1/2 Emily Simpson has finally broken the paci habit! Way to go Emme. You probably could have done this a long time ago but your parent's were holding you back.
I must add to the story......when I told David I blogged about Emme and her 1 week anniversary of no paci.....he says, "the last signs of having a baby are gone now.....and that is very sad." If I didn't know better I would say that man wants another baby, if he could find a woman to have one for him.....and if I weren't 44 I would love to be that woman.

Bearkadette Camp......

Olivia finished her Bearkadette camp tonight and had her "show-off". It was quite cute and long, but that is okay. The Klein High School drill team has a camp for young girls and this year I signed Olivia up. She went with her friend Abby and they had a great time. Olivia loves to dance and be "on stage". The performance tonight was right up her alley. The faces that girl makes is something else. She was excited to win the Outstanding Smile award for the 3rd grade class. She also can't wait for October 10th when they will get to preform their dance at the Klein HS half time show!

Olivia can't understand why she can't be a Bearkadette one day. I explained to her she will go to a different high school. I told her, the school she will go to has a drill team as well, they are called the Tiger Belles. She quickly informs me she doesn't want to be a Tiger she wants to be a BearKat! Well who knows maybe they will re-zone by the time she is in high school.

The curious wanderings of a 7 year old mind.....

Olivia and I were having another one of our random conversations in the car the other day. She asked, "when will Jaci get her permanent?" I had her repeat it because I had no clue what she was talking about. I finally figured out she was asking when she would get her driver's permit. I said I don't know when she is 16? No, Olivia said, you get your driver's license when you are 16. Oh okay, good to know....since I appear to have already forgotten these minor details of teenager life. For some strange reason I was in no hurry to get my driver's license, so I guess the age thing just skipped my mind. Moving on with Olivia's randomness...she then asks why my picture on my license has me as an adult? I told her when your license expires you go and did a new picture taken so you won't always look like a 16 year old!

Will you ever send us to daycare momma.....?

The other day we were in the car driving and happen to drive by a daycare. Olivia asked, "Momma will you ever send us to a daycare." I told her no I didn't plan on it...she wanted to know why. I told her that was my job to take care of her and her sisters. She paused for a moment and said yea and sometimes you get days off.....I replied.... I do?.....she replied....well not in the summer.

Summer is flying byyyyyyyyyyyyyy.......

Summer is half over and I haven't even gotten back to blog about our Tennessee trip in detail......now the details have left my mind.....so I will move on to our other adventures before they leave my mind. Last week we took a spontaneous trip to Galveston before July 4th. We thought we would go during the week and beat the crowds which I think we did. Last minute trips are always fun. This was really the first time for the girls to actually get to swim in gulf water. We have been to many beaches but they were either babies or it was the wrong time of the year to be in a bathing suit. Well the brown water didn't deter anyone....it was the salty water they weren't real crazy about. I had already prepped the girls to keep their mouths closed because this water wasn't going to taste like swimming pool water! But little kids can't scream and have fun with their mouths closed! So it took them a while to get used to keeping their mouths closed. Emily and Abby said the water was spicy! The wave thing was a little freaky for them at first but once they got used to it, they loved playing with their body boards and riding the waves. And of course just being with Daddy was the best. I got in the water but I didn't stay for long. The first beach we went to wasn't the best we soon learned and Olivia and I meet with some nasty rocks below the surface. We tripped over the rocks and I cut my toes and poor Olivia really got cut up....her feet, her hands and her knees....blood was flowing when we finally made it out of the water. As you can imagine open skin and salt water are a terrible combination! There was lots of drama and we were ready to call it a day. We were going to Rain Forest Cafe that night for dinner and daddy told Olivia she could order anything on the menu......I think he was counting on her ordering the Volcano for dessert! Cha Cha the frog was there and Abby and Emily wanted to follow that frog all over the restaurant!
The second day at the beach was much better! Once Olivia was certain there were no rocks she was all in! The girls saw the big bikes cruising along the seawall and of course wanted to do that as well. So we came in from the beach, took showers and headed out for a bike ride at 1:00 pm......what were thinking. David and I were drenched 10 minutes into the bike ride. We informed the girls they should be glad they had two parents that were halfway in shape or there would have been no bike ride. We had a great time. We hope to make it back one more time before school starts!
This week we took a spontaneous trip to Austin with David, as he had to go for work. We had fun there as well. Swimming in Barton Springs....burrr eating outside at ShadyGrove :) going to The Children's Museum(Houston has them beat) and the LBJ library....not that the kids wanted to go there! Olivia pulled out her Brain Age game for her DS and David, Olivia and I started testing our brains everyday. We all started out at 80years old! More Simpson family summer fun!
This week MawMaw , Aunt Paula and the boys are here. The girls are excited to have them here. It should be a fun week!
